Oryx Wheels & Tires: Our Journey in Commercial Tire Distribution

Texas
commercial tires

Every company has an origin story. Ours starts with a simple observation: Texas trucking companies were paying too much for commercial tires. Not because the tires were better, but because the distribution system was stacked against the fleet operator. We set out to change that.

The Beginning

Oryx Wheels & Tires was founded in Dallas, Texas, by people with deep roots in the commercial tire industry. With over 15 years of combined experience in tire distribution, manufacturing relationships, and fleet sales, we knew the business inside and out — including exactly where the inefficiencies lived.

The name "Oryx" was chosen deliberately. The oryx is a desert antelope known for its speed, agility, and endurance — qualities we wanted to embody in our business. Speed in delivery. Agility in customer service. Endurance through reliable products and consistent pricing.

Our Brands: Onyx and Royal Black

We partnered with two manufacturers who share our commitment to quality and value:

Onyx, manufactured by Shandong Changfeng Tyres Co., Ltd., brings over 25 years of manufacturing excellence. With 6 plants and an annual capacity of 6 million TBR tires, Changfeng has the scale and expertise to produce consistently excellent products.

Royal Black, from Shandong Haohua Tire Co., Ltd., represents the next generation of value-performance tires. With facilities in both China and Vietnam producing 7.4 million TBR tires annually, Royal Black offers a complete lineup including winter-rated options that many value brands can't match.

Together, these brands cover every position and application a commercial fleet needs — steer, drive, trailer, all-position, and winter. Our customers don't have to compromise on selection to get better pricing.

The Supply Chain

What makes our pricing possible isn't a secret formula — it's operational efficiency. We import containers of tires directly from our manufacturing partners, shipping through the Port of Houston and warehousing in Dallas. By managing the supply chain ourselves and maintaining lean operations, we eliminate the layers of markup that inflate prices in traditional tire distribution.

Our Dallas warehouse keeps over 4,000 tires in stock at any given time, with new containers arriving regularly. When you need tires, they're here — not in a catalog with a 2-week wait.

Who We Serve

Our customer base spans the Texas commercial transportation landscape:

  • Long-haul fleets running I-10, I-20, I-35, and I-40
  • Regional carriers serving the Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin metros
  • Owner-operators looking for quality tires without fleet-minimum requirements
  • Mixed fleets with diverse equipment needing tires for every application

Whether you run 5 trucks or 500, you get the same competitive pricing and personal service. We don't believe in hiding our best prices behind volume commitments.

Looking Ahead

Our goal is straightforward: be the tire supplier that Texas fleets trust first. We're expanding our inventory, adding new sizes and models, and building the infrastructure to serve more customers across the state.

We're investing in technology to make ordering faster, in logistics to make delivery more reliable, and in people to make every interaction with Oryx a good experience.

But some things won't change. We'll always be based in Texas, focused on commercial tires, committed to fair pricing, and driven by the belief that every fleet deserves access to quality tires at a price that makes business sense.

Thank you to every customer who has trusted Oryx with their tire needs. We're just getting started.
